April 20, 2010

so this week has been a finding week. since we baptised all thoses investigators our teaching pool has gone way down. so we've been hitting up this thing called the unbaptised list. a list of kids that we're blessed but haven't been baptised. yesterday i was on exchanges with Elder Kafoa (the other elder in the picture) and thats all we did all day. out of that list we picked up alot of potential investigators four to be exact. so most of this week will be following up with them and setting up new member disgustions. one really really cool thing that happened this week is that i had the oppurtunity to speak in te lakeview ward. i felt inspired to speak on recongnizing the love of god. it was based most around the talk Elder Dallin H. Oaks gave in conference, Love and Law. basically he said that you cant feel the love of god if you're not keeping the commandments. i used his talk as an outline and then added my own expierences and scriptures. on of the scriptures i used that has become my favorite is Helamen 12:3 "And thus we see that except the Lord doth chasten his people with many afflictions, yea, except he doth visit them with death and with terror, and with famine and with all manner of pestilence, they will not remember him" one storey that our high concilmen over missionary work really sums up this scripture well.
one day an old farmers horse ran away and the towns people said "i'm sorry thats bad luck that your horse ran away" and his response was "maybe" the next day his horse came back with 4 other horses and the towns people said "wow thats awesome congradulations" and his response was "maybe" the next day his son got on one of the new horses and got bucked off and broke his leg and the towns people said "wow thats sure a sad deal that your son broke his leg" and his response was "maybe" the next day the army came to his house to recruit his son to go to war but he couldn't because he had a broken leg and so the towns people said "wow that broken leg really worked out for your family huh" and you can only guess what the farmer said....... "maybe"
if we keep having that attitude and percievere through our trials we'll be blessed. in mosiah 24:14-15 it says "And I will also ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in bondage; and this will I do that ye may stand as witnesses for me hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions. And now it came to pass that the burdens which were laid upon Alma and his brethren were made light; yea, the Lord did strengthen them that they could bear up their burdens with ease, and they did submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord." the lord sends afflictions to chasten us so that we'll remeber him. but he will always help us through our afflictions
